(Fox Weekly) — A 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook southern Los Angeles today in the early morning hours. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths to report of. The quake occurred near the intersection of Mulholland Drive and the 405 Freeway. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake hit at 6.25 am PT at a depth of 5.3 miles.
A smaller magnitude of a 2.7 quake followed just about an hour later. The follow-up quake occurred just 4 miles away from Westwood.
“We did our initial survey and it was felt only. No reports of any damage,” said L.A. County Fire Supervisor Michael Pittman.
The metro light rail service had resumed as normal after an inspection of damage had taken place around 7 am.
