(Fox Weekly) — This year is proving to be the year of Chicago. The 2014 XXL Freshman class was invaded by Chicago-based rappers. One of the rappers on the XXL freshman list, Lil Durk, could be on his way to becoming a future Chicago rap legend.
Legendary rappers such as Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Juice and even Rhymefest, all have entered the industry with their Chicago roots and made their mark. Rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Reese & Chance The Rapper, are all on the rise.
So who’s Lil Durk?
Durk Banks was born in Chicago, Illinois or better known as “Chiraq“. Lil Durk was raised in the Englewood area of Chicago, and has recently scored a deal with Def Jam/Coke Boys. Lil Durk is currently working on his debut studio album that is set to be released soon.
Lil Durk’s fan base has increased substantially and is starting to become a household name.
Lil Durk has been buzzing lately over beef with Young Money artist Tyga.
Whatever the outcome may be, Lil Durk is one of the few rappers from Chicago that is on the rise. Durk could be walking in Kanye’s footsteps to become the NEXT Chicago rap phenomena.
