In today’s Foxweekly’s fashion bit we tell you all the details about why Joseph Altuzarra is heading to Paris Fashion Week instead of New York Fashion week.
Everyone is familiar with the rising star of fashion a.k.a Joseph Altuzara. Now he is heading a Paris to showcase his Spring 2018 collection. Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Thom Browne left a significant gap earlier by leaving New York Fashion Week Schedule. He thinks this move is a moment of expansion and growth in the business.
“The global scope of Paris as a city will allow us to reach a wider audience,” said Altuzarra, describing the decision as a milestone for the brand as it approaches its ten-year anniversary in 2018.
Paris has been fashion hub for a really long time. As more American Fashion designers have transferred their shows the city has become fashion capital. Paris promises great brand exposure and presence of international buyers.
“Over the last couple of years, there is a decentralization of shows and I think that there is a lot more freedom in where people decide to show,” said Altuzarra, who called his moving to Paris permanent for the future. “One thing that we are seeing in New York is a generational shift.”
He described Paris as an exciting place to be a young designer and build a business. “I don’t think that is ever going to change, but I think New York will always have the gravitas that it has as well,”
Paris is undoubtedly becoming a stable platform for brands that are 10-to-15 years old like Joseph Altuzarra’s. It is best stepping stone for designers who want to tap their next stage of growth.
Altuzarra is heading for Paris’ women’s ready-to-wear week to showcase his collection of Spring 2018. Thom Browne is doing the same with his upcoming womenswear presentation.
