Colette is world famous fashion and lifestyle emporium in Paris. It proved as a Launchpad for new designers. It will close its business after 20 years in December 2017. It is popular destination for both designers and shoppers.
A statement was released on the boutique’s website
“As all good things must come to an end, after twenty wonderful years, colette should be closing its doors on December 20th of this year. Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette cannot exist without Colette. Negotiations are under way with Saint Laurent and we would be proud to have a Brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees. Until our last day, nothing will change. colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website colette.fr We thank you for your support and see you soon at colette–until December 20th!”
This decision has come as a surprise to anyone who loves this fashion store. It was founded in 1997 by Colette Roussaux but her daughter Sarah Andelman runs the store for quite some time now.
The closing down is due to Sarah’s stepping down from the position.
“Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette cannot exist without Colette.”
Colette has been popular to staying relevant because it so perfectly managed various brands and collaborations.
This news announced on their Instagram profile. In this statement it was also announced that Saint Laurent Paris will be taking over the entire space. There are also rumors going around the fashion world that Yves Saint Laurent has bought Colette and their retail space. Mind that Colette store is at a very prestigious location on rue Saint Honoré. YSL and Colette have been not good to each other since a T shirt with a parody of YSL was being sold on Colette’s website.
When Colette didn’t remove this t shirt from its physical location YSL cancelled their order with Colette. Saint Laurent also uninvited Andelman from their fashion week.
In the same statement which I shared from Instagram Colette announced that Saint Laurent will take over the space and what a golden opportunity for Saint Laurent to occupy retail space on such prestigious location in Paris.
This store will resume its usual business until December 20th and until then Colette said the store will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings. It will give fashion explorers a chance to enjoy this store for a few months more until it will be taken over by Saint Laurent Paris.
Till then enjoy the exclusive and exquisite collaborations and collections from various designers until this store which has been very close to our hearts and souls is closed down for good.
