Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ with 2,983,715,281 views dethroned PSY’s Gangnam Style on YouTube. In just 8 month, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankees ‘ Despactio’ has been creeping on 2nd place and might become the most viewed video on YouTube.
Just this April, Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito’ achieved the diamond status under the RIAA’s Latin Program. Despactio is also the first Spanish track to come on the top of Billboard Hot 100, before that ‘Macarena’ was the Spanish only single that was on the top more than 20 years ago.
July 10th the Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See you Again’ a tribute to late Paul Walker became the most-viewed video on YouTube. PSY’s Gangnam Style’ has been on the top-viewed list for quite some time now.
Despacito the Spanish single claimed fifth place with 2,482,502,747 views on YouTube. Only 8 days later, Despacito creeped up to 3rd place in total views on YouTube.
Despacito topped Justin’s Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ and Mark Ronson Ft. Bruno Mars ‘Uptown Funk’. It only took 7 months for Despacito to reach to the top as it was released on 12 January.
At the time of writing, the prediction was that the song would very soon become the most- viewed video on YouTube.
On July 19th it had 2,662,201,395 and today it got 2,942,261,021 views.

Just on 11th July Wiz Khalifa’s Single got 40.6 million views on YouTube. After that ‘Gangnam Style’ has gained 21.9 million. After that only twenty-one days Despacito gained 452.2 million views, giving it the edge all over the other videos.
Despacito has recently 2,942,261,021 views, making it 2nd top video on the video sharing platform. Talking about the song’s immense popularity, Luis Fonsi said in an interview,
“What’s happened with this song is just insane. I don’t want to use the word ‘accident’ because I was trying to write a hit, but I didn’t plan for it to cross over. I just wanted to make people dance.”
This music video’s success on YouTube shows how Latin music is getting popular in the USA.
On Apple Music’s paid subscriptions Latin music is also increasing in sales and subscriptions. Just in 2015, streaming for the Latin market that was paid generated around $28 million. In 2016 the revenues 90% and got up to $52 million.
On-demand ad-supported streaming incomes also grew 45% to $34 million.
