‘Titanic’

 Titanic starred Leonadro DiCaprio and Kate Winslet who are now BFFs. This Oscar winner and second highest grossing film on the box office was releases on December 19th 1997 and turns the entire world into major Spielberg fan. The story encircles two young lovers on board of this gigantic non-sinkable ship, Ironic right?

An Ice-berg caused the demise of this ocean liner’s maiden trip. Celine Dion is responsible for mesmerizing all of us with “My Heart Will Go on” and Leo Screaming “I’m King of the World, Woo-Hoo”

 

Mariah Carey’s ‘Butterfly’

The days when Mariah put us under her spell by her mystical voice. Her immensely appreciated 6th album releases in September 1997 and turns her into a global super star. This album was the first one after her divorce from Tommy Mottola. This album is responsible for producing several super hits that include “Honey”, “Butterly” and “My All”.

 

 

Backstreet Boys’ U.S. Debut Album

Backstreet Boys released their first album names “Backstreet Boys” in August 1997. This album was the compilation of songs from their international albums which were released in 1996, 1997. Their greatest hits include “I want it that Way”, “Everybody”, “As Long as You Love Me”, “Show Me the Meaning”, “Quit Playing Games” and “Get Down”. Now who doesn’t remember playing their songs on recorders and considered the coolest people in school.

‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’

British readers enrolled at Hogwarts in June 1997. The U.S. version of J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book. The name changes into to “Sorcerer’s Stone” from “Philosopher’s Stone”. I am talking about the book the first movie was released four years late in 2001.

Jennifer Lopez who was not so famous in 1997 debuted in a documentary about Selena Quintanilla-Perez who was shot dead. The documentary airs in the U.S in 1997 and soared JLo to her popularity. “Selena” became a turning point for Lopez and drove her to the height of fame, for all the right reasons.

 

‘Good Will Hunting’

 Guess the duo who went and won an Oscar for roles in this movie, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Gus Van Sant directed this movie. This story is about M.I.T janitor who is as a math genius. The movie premiered in the U.S in December 1997. it is also responsible for earning the only Oscar for Robin Williams in the category of Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

 

‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’

 

Dermot Mulroney was the love interest of Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz who both fought for him till the end. This movie was nominated for a Golden Globe and premiered in June 1997.

 

 

‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’

 A Slasher flick loved by everyone released in October 1997.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr.  was the cast. They ran from a hook-wielding killer with an ax to grind its victims.

 

 

‘South Park’

 Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s animated and created this comedy. South Park wins five Emmy awards for later seasons till now. Eventually, it was premiered on August 13, 1997 on Comedy Central.

 

 

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Buffy killed her first vampire on March 10, 1997. The series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” had Sarah Michelle Gellar as the main character. It had total 7 seasons and numerous cool fight scenes.
